DCXPC LIVE: HARDCORE/PUNK PROJECT BRINGS THE BAND REBELMATIC LIVE AT “FUZZ FEST WV”

written by Leonardo M. Brauna February 23, 2024

Once, in Kingston, New York, the producer of the DCxPC Live project went to a show, where the opening band was Rebelmatic. After an incendiary performance, it was inevitable that the band would receive an invitation to record live on one of the project's albums. There was no other way! Behold, during the performance that Creature (vocals), Alkatraz (guitars and backing vocals), Karnage (bass and backing vocals) and Ramsey Jones (drums) gave at “Fuzz Fest”, in Morgantown, West Virginia, on 08/26 /2023, recordings were made for the release of “Rebelmatic Vol. 18 – DCxPC Live at Fuzz Fest WV”.

One thing to consider, in addition to the band's activity on stage, is the production of this album, which is well above average, if we consider the project's older releases. Eleven tracks were chosen to compose this album, but the difficult part is that it was pressed in only 200 copies and, to make access more difficult, it will not appear on any streaming platform. However, the good part is that you can access the DCxPC website and place your order. Another option is to purchase the digital version through Bandcamp.

In the sonic content, you will hear nothing less than brutality, as the Rebelmatic does not skimp on the brutality, distortions and wild footprint. Formed on the streets of New York, the band is now one of the most important names in local hardcore/punk. His songs, always drenched in social criticism, reinforce his mastery of this art. Live, Rebelmatic leaves no one standing still, as the violence of the distorted riffs and the vocalist's nervous throat become calling cards for the band's art. Therefore, if you enjoy this aspect, you will have no problem enjoying this repertoire full of cool songs.

With roots in hardcore, punk and hip-hop, Rebelmatic destroys everything in songs like “Feel Some Type Of Way” which, in addition to this more violent side, has great melodies. But if it's a beating you're looking for, then you'll have a hard time choosing one or the other. However, “Pony”, which opens the album after the intro, is a great example. I, at least, must confess that I haven't heard anything like it in recent years in terms of versatility and brutality. Looking for the band's influences, if there is any comparison, Rebelmatic is like Body Count getting an electric shock. Unmissable!'
